The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on a multiphase CTMA initiative to develop a framework for future sustainment after the US divestiture of legacy ground vehicles through continued development of common components, with unique component development being the responsibility of the new users. This Fair Share Sustainment Model project will develop a framework for future sustainment through continued development of common components, with unique component development being the responsibility of the new users.

Phase 5 will continue collaborations with the developed partnerships under the Fair Share Sustainment Model and begin validating overarching strategies within the Fair Share Sustainment Program Plan and Integrated Logistics Support Plan. This will be conducted by leveraging a surrogate Modular Open System Architecture (MOSA) HEV/EV platform. Modifications to the base MOSA architecture will be made based on testing results and further analysis will determine the potential to scale the prototype for use in heavier vehicles. This approach will help inform and develop future MOSAs that are more reliable, able to accept new electrical power and storage technologies, and are easier to maintain.
