The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to improve operational availability of US ships and systems by providing critical infrastructure that simultaneously enhances prototype experiment and testing requirements focused on innovation and establishes counterfeit detection activities at multiple classification levels through the maintenance and sustainment supply chain. The overall goal is the development of deployable infrastructure, command, control, communication (DIC3) capabilities, and the demonstration of DOD-compliant Mobile Assurance Labs (MALs) equipped with inspection and counterfeit detection capabilities.

Specific objectives include:

• enhancing a containerized solution to meet DIC3 security and network requirements that adhere to DOD requirements
• conducting research and development to address the Joint Federated Assurance Center’s (JFAC’s) assurance gaps utilizing JFAC’s cloud-hosted portal
• limited fielding of the labs globally, supported by a central and satellite warehouses for maintenance and logistics
• validating the technologies through rigorous testing to ensure integration into current and future DOD initiatives
