The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to improve operational availability of US ships and systems by providing critical infrastructure that simultaneously enhances prototype experiment and testing requirements focused on innovation and establishes counterfeit detection activities at multiple classification levels through the maintenance and sustainment supply chain. The overall goal is the development of deployable infrastructure, command, control, communication (DIC3) capabilities, and the demonstration of DOD-compliant Mobile Assurance Labs (MALs) equipped with inspection and counterfeit detection capabilities.
