The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to integrate commercial and Defense Industrial Base advanced composite manufacturing capabilities through a collaborative effort between industry and government, focusing on rapid production using the resin transfer molding (RTM) process.

Specific goals include:

  • Expand industrial base operations to introduce a rapid composite production capacity in the INDOPACOM region.
  • Demonstrate infrastructure solutions to enable rapid production, maintenance, and sustainment of advanced composite technologies in the INDOPACOM region.
  • Develop a holistic complex of RTM-based production and training capacity in the INDOPACOM region.
  • Replicate and expand this complex to a broader network as applicable.
