The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on a multiphase CTMA initiative to advance the state of modern plating solutions and manufacturing processes. The overall goal is to provide agile and flexible plating solutions that eliminate the necessity to empty large plating tanks when testing new chemical processes or for small run changeovers.
Key objectives include:
- Flexible/ experimental plating tanks that will allow for the repetitive testing and re-working of various chemical processes without the extreme financial loss of losing large batches of chemical when doing a changeover
- Provision of a means to explore new chemistries to eliminate current dangerous processes (ex: trivalent chrome, hard chrome, hex chrome, etc.)
- Solutions that allow industry/government to work ahead of the regulation duringtesting of exploratory chemical processes, minimizing downtime and delay when new regulations are received
Phase 2 of the project will institute in-line rinse systems to eliminate the need for offsite rinsing.
If you feel your organization has the technical capabilities and would like to be considered for this project, please complete the form below and upload your organization’s technical capabilities statement.
