The US Department of War is partnering with industry and academia on a multiphase CTMA initiative to conduct and observe corrosion and materials condition assessments during scheduled maintenance periods to evaluate workforce proficiency, maintenance practices, material degradation trends, and system vulnerabilities. The selected team will focus on identifying corrosion drivers, coating failures, material incompatibilities, and preservation gaps, while capturing real-time inspection data tied to specific platforms, components, and environmental exposure conditions.

The team will be expected to demonstrate how integrating corrosion and materials assessment data with the Sailor Self-Sufficiency Ecosystem (SSES) strengthens training pipelines, competency tracking, and long-term sustainment outcomes. The overall goal will be to demonstrate a scalable, data-driven model that improves the Navy’s ability to execute self-repair, enhance warfighting readiness, and advance corrosion mitigation practices across both defense and commercial sectors.
