The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to create efficiency and safety improvements that can enable the continued operation of a legacyfoundry.

Specific objectives include:

• Sealing up critical power components and adding fire resistance to supporting systems
• Replacing hydraulic system to enable the use of self-extinguishing hydraulic fluid
• Validating proper operation of electronics, hydraulics, and cooling systems
