The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to advance maintenance and sustainment practices by developing, testing, and demonstrating a predictive maintenance and sustainment framework designed to unify planning processes across platforms. The overall goal will be to create a standardized, data-driven framework by demonstrating a replicable sustainment model that improves forecasting, reduces sustainment costs, and enhances the operational readiness of aviation weapon systems.

Specific objectives include:

  • Establishing functional predictive maintenance and sustainment systems frameworks
  • Ensuring measurable cost savings, improved safety
  • Establishing application that is agnostic to military and commercial platforms
  • Advancing the technology readiness toward operational maturity and industry adoption
