The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to modernize manufacturing and repair capabilities with integration of digital tools and Industry 4.0 solutions for post processing of large components. The overall goal is to develop a digital platform for coupling data streams from scanning, modeling, machine process information, and post-build information for advanced manufacturing.
More specifically, industry partners will develop:
- A multi-process demonstration cell with robotic tool changer for scanning, machining, finishing, and inspection of large castings and forgings
- A demonstration cell with a mechanical positioning system and digital integrated solution to travel and position with a profilometer/3D scanner incorporated into system
- A prototype cell with robotic additive manufacturing to build surface features and to enable on-part repair of critical components
If you feel your organization has the technical capabilities and would like to be considered for this project, please complete the form below and upload your organization’s technical capabilities statement.
Interested Submissions Due by 2/20/24.
