The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on a multiphase CTMA initiative to rapidly advance integrated photonics technologies and the ecosystem required to viably manufacture them to a level of maturity that can be demonstrated and applied to address communication and operational issues in an RF-denied environment.

Phase III will work to show an improved agility to react to supply chain disruptions and a reduction in manufacturing costs. Specific objectives will include:

• Completion of final designs
• Fabrication and assembly of prototypes
• Development of test methods & algorithms
• Creation of digital twin for modeling and simulation
• Field testing and analysis
