The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to create a strategic plan for a software maintenance organization and the tools and governance needed to ensure its successful implementation.
More specific objectives will include:
- Assess the capacity and capabilities of a specific service’s software workforce and develop tools to effectively measure the organization’s strengths and gaps
- Develop a comprehensive strategic plan to set the foundation and future roadmap for the software technology function within that specific service
- Support that service’s sustainment center in aligning with the broader service’s strategy of integrating advanced technology development with sustainment programs
- Drive organizational capability uplift by fostering a culture of continuous improvement and strategic thinking
