The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to review, analyze, and make recommendations for improving the efficiency of maintenance and sustainment ordering patterns for optimal readiness. The overall objective is to establish data centricity and conduct a variety of material analyses focused on ordering patterns to support strategic stocking efforts for one widely used asset. Specific objectives include:
- Identify how executing activities work in ordering material for maintenance requirements
- Understand the interplay between orders of specific assemblies, sub-assemblies and piece parts.
- Provide recommendations for actions by execution, supply and planning activities to reduce variability of demand and provide more accurate demand signals
- Identify focus areas for further analytics and solution development
