The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to demonstrate cost-efficient and high-performing maintenance plans to enable the operation of Counter-Unmanned Systems/Unmanned Systems and/or ancillary hardware associated with operations, as well as Packaging/Handling, Storage and Transport (PHS&T) equipment. These systems present a paradigm shift that will lead to huge cost saving opportunities for system maintenance and sustainment.
More specifically, this initiative will explore pilot activities that demonstrate:
- The development of advanced manufacturing/maintenance support (MSP-M) plans
- The development of a systematic approach to improve and stimulate maintenance activities and processes based on authoritative data
- The capability to remotely monitor, assess maintenance needs, and modify existing maintenance schemes for the specific needs and environments where operations are conducted
