The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on a multi-phase CTMA initiative to advance the state of the art in MBSE and DE tools and processes to improve technology integration, maintenance and sustainment activities, common infrastructures and architecture, and resource and program decision-making across various product lifecycles. The overall goal is to prove the feasibility of MBSE for current and new systems integration, common architectures, and maintenance and sustainment activities.
Specific goals for Phase VI include:
- Develop and evaluate vehicle product support plans required to maintain high levels of operational readiness.
- Develop and evaluate engineering plans to integrate new subsystems onto current and future vehicles.
- Plan and execute vehicle fielding activities with logistics, maintenance, and engineering support.
- Assess maintenance issues and recommend changes to technical manuals.
- Manage obsolescence and recommend redesign or replacement parts.
- Develop and demonstrate manpower traceability modeling, digital engineering artifacts, viewpoints, tools, processes, and metrics.
- Develop and demonstrate MBSE tool support and configuration selections, modeling standards and best practices.
The technology implementation goal for this effort is Tier 3.
