The US Air Force is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to demonstrate the methodology to perform a complete assessment of a current organic repair capability and evaluate what future requirements are needed. Using one model of aircraft as a surrogate, a gap analysis will identify organic repair capabilities that are capable of mitigating the issues referenced previously and will result in a more efficient and cost-effective maintenance system that will increase an aircraft fleet’s time on wing (TOW).
