The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on a multiphase initiative to assess how AI and ML can be leveraged to develop software solutions that provide situational awareness of operational demand and supply requirements. The software solution will combine data on training, force structure, manning, and logistics to synchronize operations in contested environments. Specifically, the solution will include prescriptive analytics capabilities that can provide optimal decision scenarios, resource allocation strategies, risk mitigation plans, and “what-if” analysis results.
Phase IV will build on the successes of Phases I-III. Requirements include the following:
- Deploy modernized code supporting emergent decision workflow harmonization
- Implement code changes to align to updated DOD standardized policy
- Finalize artifacts and remediations for formal Risk Management Framework Authority to Operate on Secret Internet Protocol Router (SIPR) cloud
- Review final requirements to transition and consolidate a training information front end to increase training synchronization
- Support accreditation efforts for current and future capability in the Non-classified Internet Protocol Router (NIPR) and SIPR cloud
- Develop necessary artifacts to support information assurance and cyber compliance
- Integrate with cloud tool sets to promote rapid integration and deployment of capabilities
- Maintain Federal security compliance standards in accordance with National Institute of Standards and Technology Special Publication (NIST SP) 800-171 Rev 1 (or the latest approved update), to include compliance with the requirements to assist the government in achieving and maintaining an Authority To Operate (ATO) on Army unclassified (NIPRNet / IL-5) and classified (SIPRNet / IL-6) networks in compliance with the DOD Risk Management Framework (RMF).
