The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to advance the state of the art in Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and processes to improve technology integration, maintenance and sustainment activities, and resource and program decision making across various product lifecycles. Using two existing vehicles as testbeds, this initiative will employ MBSE tools and processes as a final demonstration to prove the feasibility for current and new systems integration, common architectures, and maintenance and sustainment activities across product lifecycles.
The industry partner will be expected to:
- incorporate an innovative MBSE approach to demonstrate the effects of integrating new technologies within a digital ecosystem to assess the effects, tradeoffs, and requirements impacts across various vehicle platforms in different phases of the product lifecycle.
- evaluate this new MBSE approach as a repeatable process for designing, maintaining and sustaining new and current products while integrating new advanced technologies to improve reliability and maintainability.
