The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to demonstrate how commercial-off-the-shelf technology can be adapted to public sector workflows to reduce administrative burden, improve production visibility, and support scalable modernization. The industry team will prototype and validate the use of Floor2Plan shipyard operations software at a public shipyard.

Specific objectives include:

  • Prototype Floor2Plan’s hours & progress module in a live public shipyard environment.
  • Validate reduction in supervisor time spent on manual tracking tasks.
  • Demonstrate improved production control through real-time feedback.
  • Identify configuration requirements for broader DOD applicability.
  • Support long-term digital transformation goals for public shipyard operations.
