The US Department of War is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to demonstrate a manufacturing system for unmanned aerial systems (UASs) that utilizes advanced computational design and digital manufacturing technologies capable of rapidly converting mission requirements into production-ready technical data packages. The overall goal is to enable faster maintenance and sustainment for UASs via automated system configuration, reduced engineering effort, acceleration of fabrication timelines, and improved access to distributed manufacturing resources across both commercial industry and government sustainment organizations.
Specific objectives include:
- Expand existing partner design libraries
- Extend performance prediction software (PPS)
- Stand up the Blue UAS marketplace
- Achieve marketplace cybersecurity and ATO readiness
- Deliver an sUAS train-the-trainer curriculum
