The US Department of War is partnering with industry and academia on a multiphase CTMA initiative to utilize state of the art (SOTA) commercial technologies to establish domestically manufactured radiation-hardened processors to improve the quality and supply of these critical inputs to commercial, aerospace, and defense markets.

Specific objectives include:

  • Increase security and performance of processors for mission critical systems and infrastructure
  • Utilize domestic 12nm semiconductor fabrication technology
  • Assemble, test, and qualify processors domestically using SOTA capabilities and a trusted supply chain
  • Enable supply chain sustainment for long-life operation of microelectronics
  • Establish points of need for reuse amongst multiple DOW programs of record
