The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to create a prototype portable manufacturing system capable of advanced manufacturing to augment maintenance and sustainment activities in locations where standard supply chains have unacceptably long lead times for delivery. The overall goal is to create a system that can allow for rapid production of parts that enable at least temporary repair while new replacement parts are in transit. More specific goals include:
- establish a baseline plan for how to proceed both technically and programmatically
- evaluate and approve initial and final designs
- fabricate and assemble the system
- conduct full system testing and evaluation
- train personnel in set up, operation, maintenance and management of system
If you feel your organization has the technical capabilities and would like to be considered for this project, please complete the form below and upload your organization’s technical capabilities statement.
