The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on a multi-phase CTMA initiative to develop and demonstrate a portable test set that can interface and run maintenance tests and diagnostics on a newly redesigned line replaceable unit (LRU) for a legacy vehicle. The overall objective of this initiative is to improve LRU readiness for the fire control system while taking up less volume, using less electrical power, and requiring less cooling, thereby enabling easier and cheaper maintenance.
Phase IV will expand on existing methods to mature manufacturing readiness methods that validate and verify production processes and provide a robust testing capability along with revised technical data package and continued LRU improvements.
