The US Department of War is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to demonstrate how a structured program management methodology, combined with data-driven decision-support tools and workforce transition resources, can preserve continuity and improve performance of strategic acquisition management for maintenance and sustainment during organizational restructuring.

Specific objectives include:

  • Develop a unified program management methodology integrating best practices from legacy operations and identifying improvements for use across enterprises.
  • Create decision-support tools such as a logistics decision dashboard that will reduce acquisition cycle time and improve strategic procurement outcomes.
  • Build workforce competency models and transition guides that preserve institutional expertise and help reduce onboarding time during restructuring.
  • Validate these solutions in an operational maintenance and sustainment environment, producing measurable outcomes replicable by other organizations.
