The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to demonstrate the technologies and capabilities required to ensure a resilient domestic supply of electrodeposited (ED) copper foil, strengthening national security and reinforcing supply chain resilience. The project will focus on workforce training, process optimization, and advanced manufacturing integration to improve efficiency, reduce cost, and scale performance to meet current and future defense and commercial demand.

Specific objectives include:

preservation of critical workforce
replenishment of materials and feedstock to sustain production
modernization of the production facility
