The US Department of War is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to transition and enhance previous analytical efforts developed to support software for a logistics and maintenance organization’s use of AI/ML, with advanced mathematical algorithms in supply chain management to demonstrate an increase in parts availability and reduced customer wait time. The overall goal is to optimize the type, range, and depth of the parts within afloat spares packages (ASPs) and deployed spares packages (DSPs) for aircraft to forecast a more accurate mix of high demand parts.

Key objectives include:

  • Develop and enhance AI/ML software with a battlefield management tool (BMT) in contested and uncontested environments
  • Enhance the AI/ML for an existing operations tool for aviation efficiency
  • Transition developed software to a Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP)
