Project Announcement: Enhanced Modeling and Simulation Software to Improve Vehicle Reliability and Durability – Phase III

The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on a multiphase CTMA initiative to leverage the current Chrono Vehicle open system software infrastructure and enhance the flexibility, applicability, and usage of technology. The overall goal is to allow vehicle models to be exchanged and simulated in larger contexts and with different software tools by adopting an established standard for model exchange and co-simulation, namely a Functional Mock-up Interface (FMI).

Phase III of this effort will provide the necessary computational and software enhancements to address performance aspects uniquely related to tracked vehicle modeling, thus enabling effective use of FMUs across the entire spectrum of ground vehicles supported in Chrono. At completion, this effort is expected to reach Technology Implementation Tier 2.
