Project Announcement: Leveraging Artificial Intelligence for Assuring Intellectual Property for Maintenance and Right to Repair

The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to demonstrate and test a Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) “Odin-Data Rights” (Odin-DR) solution to meet the pressing need for automated technical data markings verification. The core objective of this effort is to conduct a proof of concept to enhance Odin-DR to a target technical implementation level 1 for a specific vehicle family, resulting in increased understanding of technical data and improved lifecycle supportability, maintenance, and sustainment. The goal is to provide a flexible and scalable supporting technology that enables linkages across functional areas and is applicable for use across a variety of industries.

Additional specific objectives include:

  • verification that technical data and requirements are delivered completely and with appropriate markings by automating crosslinking of the vehicle contracts to TDPs
  • creating a knowledge store for clear understanding on the vehicle’s industry team deliveries by automating fusion of critical TDP data and contractual rights assertion tables to the vehicle’s Bill of Materials (BOM)
  • providing a user interface for rapid display of insights
  • enabling user accessibility of Odin-DR in the non-DOD cloud environment in preparation for future connection to Product Lifecycle Management (PLM).
