CTMA
Project Announcements
July 23, 2024
The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on a multi-phase CTMA initiative with an overarching goal of vastly improving legacy processes and facilities in a 3-stage approach starting with a deep understanding of the current processes necessary to bring products to market.
July 23, 2024
The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on a multiphase CTMA initiative to streamline and expand the equipment maintenance process by developing a fully integrated digital logbook (DLB) solution to improve maintenance activities. Using advanced integration methods this DLB solution will provide operators and maintainers real-time access to technical manuals, on-board sensors and diagnostics data, and data analysis tools that interface direct into core maintenance systems.

The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on a multiphase CTMA initiative to create a dynamic modular eDrive prototype that can provide power dense vehicle plug-in support. The overall objective of this effort is to employ an in-hub “wheel hub” modular motor which is directly integrated into the wheels of the vehicle, rather than the typical motor with gears and transmission systems.
July 17, 2024
The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on a multiphase CTMA initiative to develop low-cost isotropic and mesophase pitch-derived synthetic graphite and battery anode-based materials to support domestic maintenance and sustainment operations. Under this effort an industry participant with the capability to develop synthetic graphite from isotropic and mesophase pitch materials will work to increase production capacity, improve material characteristics, reduce costs, and make the supply chain more robust.
July 17, 2024
The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to develop a multi-prong approach to address, through data and documentation, efforts to improve the agility and resilience of performance-based and strategic acquisition contracting efforts to support maintenance and sustainment activities.
July 17, 2024
The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to investigate and identify alternative tooling material options utilizing friction stir welding (FSW) to achieve adequate material performance in the joining of titanium parts. This effort will include a determination of the potential for locating a supply source within the US.
July 9, 2024
The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to forecast readiness and learn the drivers of levels of readiness consumption of Armored Brigade Combat Team (ABCT) equipment and present this information in a Common Operating Picture (COP) or other system for use by logistics and operations planners.
July 9, 2024
The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on a multi-phase CTMA initiative to advance the state of the art in MBSE and DE tools and processes to improve technology integration, maintenance and sustainment activities, common infrastructures and architecture, and resource and program decision-making across various product lifecycles.
July 9, 2024
The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on a multi-phase CTMA initiative to identify a process to analyze data that is off-loaded from a specific type of vehicle’s platforms, define the model associated with vehicle analytical data, integrate the Maintenance Support Device (MSD) for vehicle data off-loading, and define the Concept of Operations associated with end-to-end predictive logistics (PL) data transfer from vehicles to the enterprise.
July 9, 2024
The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to fully integrate a specific aircraft platform into a digital engineering environment. Overall goals include: Develop a comprehensive digital twin including system program office-specified subsystems, and expand the B-1 digital thread Integrate systems into the structural digital twin Merge and create digital threads between various efforts (models, simulations, etc.).
July 9, 2024
The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on a multiphase CTMA initiative to improve the institutional level training continuum and deliver effective maintenance managers with skill sets that foster the production of the required number of mission ready aircraft and support equipment available.
July 2, 2024
The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to develop a digital engineering training lab concept, demonstrate the effectiveness of this environment, and develop a guided, predefined, training workflow that will be used as a pilot for future scalability.
